Loan Periods and Policies

Library Cards

  • Current students, faculty, and staff must present their Assiniboine ID card or valid government-issued picture ID at the front counter to check out materials.
  • Assiniboine alumni are eligible for a library card upon request.
  • Community members may be eligible for a library card.
  • Western Manitoba Regional Library and Brandon University members are eligible for a library card.

Responsibilities

It's your responsibility to:

  • Know the due date for when materials are to be returned
  • Return or renew material before the due date
  • Be careful in the handling of library materials

Login to your library account to:

  • review what materials you have checked out
  • view overdue items
  • renew materials

Circulation FAQs

My items are overdue. What are my library fines?

Assiniboine Library doesn't charge overdue fines! Simply return or renew your overdue items.

 

Why is my library account suspended?

Your borrowing privileges will be suspended if you:

  • have library materials that are 6 weeks or more overdue
  • returned an item in damaged condition
  • lost an item

Your account will remain suspended until the materials are returned or you've paid the bill issued for the replacement cost of the items plus $15 handling and applicable taxes. Learn more about paying bills.
