IEEE Style Guidance

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a professional organization that supports the advancement of engineering, computer science and information technology. IEEE Style is the designated citing style for the Communications Engineering Technology (CET) program at Assiniboine. Some key points to keep in mind when citing in IEEE are:

  • IEEE refers writers to the Chicago Manual of Style for further guidance on grammar and usage.
  • In-text citations include numbers in square brackets, which refer to the full citation listed in the reference list at the end of the paper
  • The reference list is organized numerically, not alphabetically.

The IEEE Editorial Style Manual is the authoritative source on IEEE Style and the best place to look for formats and guidelines. .

Always check with your instructor for any specific citation requirements.
