Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) Preparation

Test Content Breakdown

  • 40 multiple choice questions
  • Cannot use a calculator.  We provide scrap paper.
  • Tests your ability to read a word problem and do the calculations necessary for the answer.
  • About ½ of the test is “consumer math” (i.e. interest on a loan, paycheques, total costs of painting a house, savings with round trip tickets, tax at the store, etc.)
  • There are questions on ratios
  • There are questions on probability (e.g. the odds of winning a raffle)
  • Some questions require you to read a circle (i.e. pie) graph or a table (e.g. a bus schedule) and answer a word problem
  • There are some geometry questions, mostly focus on square or cubic area
  • Not timed: Suggested completion time approximately 45 minutes
